Qian Li
Born and raised in China, Qian Li is a bilingual writer-director and visual storyteller currently based in Beijing and Shanghai. Qian enjoys exploring a deeper perception of our everyday life through stories of mother-daughter relationships, the search for belonging, and the quiet, uncomfortable, in-between moments.
Hide and Seek, a short film she created during the Shanghai lockdown with only two crew members, premiered at the 70th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 2024.
Golden Bird Flying Away, an award-winning short film shot entirely on iPhone, garnered over six million views online.
Nothing To My Name, her debut short documentary, played at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival and the Vermont International Film Festival in 2019 before streaming on Vermont PBS.
Qian holds an M.F.A. in Narrative Film Directing from Beijing Film Academy, China, and a B.A. in Film and English from Middlebury College in Vermont, USA. She also studied at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, USA, as an exchange student.

研究生毕业于北京电影学院故事片导演创作专业(2024届),期间赴美国查普曼大学道奇电影学院公派交流一年,本科以最高荣誉毕业于美国明德学院的文学、电影专业(2019届)。
